Support without a new class to run

Give families a practical SHSAT option without adding a school program to manage.

Many families want structured digital SHSAT practice but may not be ready for private tutoring or another scheduled class. SHSAT Buddy gives a school community a way to share access while students work from home and parents manage their accounts.

Three partnership models

Choose the SHSAT school partnership that fits your community.

The final scope, eligibility, pricing, and timing are confirmed with SHSAT Buddy before anything is announced to families.

  1. 01

    Sponsored student access

A PTA, PA, or school community can fully or partially subsidize approved product access for participating families.

  2. 02

    School-community pricing

Interested families receive an approved school-specific offer or access path distributed through existing communication channels.

  3. 03

    Fundraising partnership

Eligible parent associations can discuss a model that combines optional family access with agreed fundraising support for the school community.

Partnership launch steps

From first conversation to family access.

The school does not need to host a testing event or add a new class. The partnership is designed to work through the communication channels the school community already uses.

  1. 01

    Tell us about the community

Share the school name, your role, estimated family interest, preferred timing, and partnership goal.

  2. 02

    Confirm the model

Agree on product access, pricing, subsidy or fundraising terms, timing, and responsibilities.

  3. 03

    Share the approved invitation

Distribute the approved email, newsletter copy, flyer, or QR link to families.

  4. 04

    Families practice from home

Parents create accounts, students use the digital practice, and families review the available results.

Experience with NYC families

Digital practice tested with more than 150 NYC students.

SHSAT Buddy previously administered digital fixed-form practice tests to more than 150 NYC students before test day. Students used the experience to become more comfortable working on a computer, practice pacing, and reduce uncertainty about digital testing.

This is experience data, not a claim of guaranteed score improvement or admission.

“SHSAT Buddy made it simple for our parent association to bring digital SHSAT practice to students. Engagement was strong, and many parents were grateful for the opportunity to give their children realistic test preparation without added complexity for the school.”

Product and format clarity

Adaptive and fixed-form full-length tests are both available.

The adaptive practice test follows the current 100-question structure with 50 ELA and 50 Math questions in a 180-minute session. Fixed-form tests remain available as 114-question digital checkpoints.

A partnership can include access to either format or both, depending on the agreed scope. Review the official test format directly on the New York City Public Schools SHSAT page.
